Yangzhou University

Yangzhou University (Yangzhou University), referred to as "Yangzhou University", is located in Yangzhou ,Jiangsu Province . It is a university jointly established by the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Education , a university jointly established by the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs , a key comprehensive university in Jiangsu Province, and a Class A university in the Jiangsu High-level University Construction Peak Plan . It is one of the first batch of doctoral and master's degree awarding institutions in the country, one of the first batch of demonstration universities for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform, and a national practice-based innovation and entrepreneurship base. 

Yangzhou University was formerly Tongzhou Normal School and Tonghai Agricultural School , both of which were founded in 1902 by Zhang Jian, a famous modern Chinese industrialist and educator. It was formally established in 1992 through the merger of six universities: Yangzhou Normal College, Jiangsu Agricultural College, Yangzhou Institute of Technology, Yangzhou Medical College, Jiangsu Water Conservancy Engineering College, and Jiangsu Commercial College. Yangzhou University is one of the first institutions in the country to award doctoral and master’s degrees. In July 2020, it was awarded the honorary title of “Jiangsu Province Smart Campus Demonstration School”. In September 2021, it was selected as a university under the Jiangsu High-Level University Construction Peak Plan.

As of March 2024, the university campus covers an area of more than 6,000 acres, with six campuses and one planned campus. The building area of the school is 1.417 million square meters, and the library has a collection of 4.02 million books. It has 13 major disciplines, 21 first-level doctoral degree authorization points, 50 first-level master's degree authorization points, 3 doctoral professional degree categories, 34 master's professional degree categories, and 22 postdoctoral mobile stations. There are more than 6,000 faculty and staff, including more than 2,900 full-time teachers, more than 1,500 teachers with senior positions, more than 3,500 doctoral and master's supervisors, 2 self-cultivated academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 3 foreign academicians, more than 31,900 ordinary full-time undergraduates, and more than 16,200 doctoral and master's students of various types. There are 2 national key disciplines, 1 national key (cultivation) discipline, 10 provincial advantage disciplines, and 10 provincial first-level key disciplines in the "14th Five-Year Plan".
