About
Northeast Forestry University, located in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, is a higher education and research institution under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. It serves as the largest forestry college in China and a key university within the countrywide “211 Project.” Northeast Forestry University is currently a multidisciplinary college with forestry as its central area, specializing in forestry engineering.
Founded in 1952, Northeast Forestry University (NEFU) was once fashioned by combining each Zhejiang University and the forestry branch of Northeast Agricultural College. It is currently one of the key universities affiliated with the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China and a member of the “211 Project.”
Northeast Forestry University is now a multidisciplinary university with forestry as its core, and offers a unique specialization in forestry engineering. Northeast Forestry University has also specialized in forestry-related factors of agriculture, science, engineering, economics, management, liberal arts, and law. At present, the university comprises sixteen colleges and two departments. There are nine postdoctoral research programs, 43 doctoral programs, 135 master's programs, 57 undergraduate programs, and 12 national key disciplines. There are now more than 23,000 Chinese students and 150 international students at Northeast Forestry University.
Northeast Forestry University has 1,269 full-time teachers, including seven academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, two distinguished academicians, both of whom are Changjiang Scholars, and 819 professors. The Northeast Forestry University campus spans more than 136 hectares and includes teaching buildings, scientific research laboratories, and exercise areas. In addition, there are countless practice centers, including the Martian Experimental Forestry Center (Mao Shan National Forest Park) and the Lianshui Experimental Forestry Center (Lianghui National Nature Reserve), etc. Northeast Forestry University has first-rate facilities for teaching, research, and practice, including one national key scientific observation station (Maoershan Forestry Ecological System Place Station), three key laboratories of the Ministry of Education, four key laboratories of the State Forestry Administration, and 49 lookup institutions. There are also nine practice websites within the school, including the Maoershan Experimental Forestry Center and the Liangshui Experimental Forestry Center, as well as 180 bases outside the school.
Since 2001, Northeast Forestry University has won greater than a hundred and forty awards of varying tiers in scientific research, together with two National second-place awards for Technology and Innovation, three National second-place awards for Advancements in Science and Technology, one Heliang Heli Fund award for Advancements in Science and Technology, six Liangxi prizes awarded by using Chinese Society of Forestry, seventy-four different provincial and departmental awards and has received sixty-nine countrywide patents. Northeast Forestry University has been designated a Provincial-level Civilized Unit for 13 consecutive years. In recent years, NEFU has been honored with the National Advanced Collective of “Cultivating Students in Three Aspects,” the National Model Home of Workers and Staff (the National Model Labor Union), the National Advanced Collective of Teacher’s Morals Construction, the Advanced Unit of Campus Landscaping among Heilongjiang universities and has additionally received the honorary title of “the National Advanced Unit of Social Practice” twelve times in succession.
Northeast Forestry University has made exquisite developments in international cooperation and conservation. It has established intercollegiate cooperative relations with 120 universities and institutions from more than 20 nations and regions. In recent years, Northeast Forestry University has invited more than 300 overseas professionals and pupils from more than thirty nations and regions (including the United States, Canada, Russia, and Sweden, etc.) to teach, lecture, research, go to, and tour the university. There are now more than 150 worldwide college students at Northeast Forestry University.

Admission Process

Successful applicants receive an Admission Notice along with the JW201 or JW202 form, necessary for applying for a student visa. With these documents, students can proceed to apply for an X1 or X2 visa at their nearest Chinese Embassy.
After obtaining the visa, students plan their travel and inform the university of their arrival details. Upon arriving at NEFU, students complete campus registration, health checks, housing arrangements, and orientation.
