Tongji University

Tongji University (同济大学) , located in Shanghai , is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and a centrally administered university.It is a Double First-Class A-level university, a 985 Project , and a 211 Project university.

The university was originally founded by Erich Paulun in Shanghai in 1907 as the German Medical School . In 1908, it was renamed Tongji German Medical School . In 1912, it was combined with Tongji German Engineering School to become Tongji Medical and Engineering School . In 1923, it was officially named Tongji University. In 1927, it became National Tongji University , one of China's first seven national universities.
