This major follows the international standards for medical education and the Chinese Quality Control Standards for Undergraduate Medical Education (English Teaching) for International Students in China (Trial), taking into account the medical needs of the original countries of international students and the international requirements for returning to China or serving in third countries after graduation. The main goal is to cultivate international general medical talents with solid medical basic knowledge, standardized clinical skills, and good professional quality, committed to making graduates become specialized talents capable of providing medical, teaching, and research work in the healthcare service sector. Its main courses include Outline of Human Anatomy, Tissue Embryology, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Medical Immunology, Diagnostics, Medical Psychology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Epidemiology, etc.
The major lasts for six years, including one year of hospital internship, and is granted with Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS).

Fujian Medical University (FJMU) provides accommodation for international students in the International Students Apartment, located near the main entrance of the Living Area on the Shangjie Campus.
